Fermentation profile of E. coli B (A and B) and SSY09(pZSack) (C and D) grown in the bioreactor in complex medium with glucose (A and C) and xylose (B and D) as carbon source. Only small fraction of carbon has been used by the E. coli B cells to produce ethanol. SSY09(pZSack) strain utilized glucose and produced ethanol at a significantly high rate.
