Representative confocal images of A. pisum dissected guts in a pulse-chase feeding experiment with FITC labelled proteins. Five-day-old aphids were fed for 24 h on artificial diets containing FITC labelled proteins (8 µM of either PAF, GNA, or PAF/GNA or 5 µM ovalbumin), or control (no protein) diet and counterstain PI followed by chase feeding on artificial diet plus PI for 24 or 48 h. Guts were dissected in sterile ice-cold PBS and imaged immediately using a Zeiss 880 LSM
