The effects of bacterial volatiles on the fungal growth and PQ production of Shiraia sp. S9. The fungus was kept on PDA treated with bacterial volatiles for 7 days. The chromatogram of individual PQs in mycelium (A), and the PQ contents in mycelium (B) were measured. The mycelial morphology was observed (C and D, × 400). The length between mycelial branches (E) and conidium concentration of S9 were measured on day 7 (F). The bacterial suspension and fungal mycelial plugs were inoculated simultaneously. Values are mean ± SD from three independent experiments. (**p < 0.01 versus fungal monoculture as the control group)
