Influence of a D42Y mutation in hisD on macrolactins production. To validate the influence of a D42Y mutation in hisD on macrolactins production, hisDD41Y and hisD were overexpressed in A72, yielding A72-WT and A72-D41Y, respectively. The cell growth (A), glucose consumption (B), and macrolactins production C of the two strains were compared. The plasmid pHT3101 was used as a skeleton for gene overexpression. Strains were cultivated in ISP-50 medium supplemented with 0.5 μg/mL erythromycin. Values and error bars represent the mean and standard deviation, respectively (n = 3 cultivations)
