Succinate titers in the growth medium of Synechocystis strains created in this study under all tested conditions. BG11 corresponds to media with nitrate, BG110 corresponds to media without any nitrogen source. Standard corresponds to BG11 or BG110 and 5 µM of NiCl2 incubated for 4 days. + TTA corresponds to BG11 or BG110, 5 µM of NiCl2 and 1 mM of 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) incubated for 4 days. TTA + Acetate corresponds to BG11 or BG110, 5 µM of NiCl2, 1 mM of TTA, 50 mM of Tris pH 7.5 and 0.2% acetic acid glacial incubated for 4 days. Error bars represent the mean ± SD
