Morphology of dmtA mutants and wild type mycelia cultured on media with different Mn2+ concentrations. Citric acid production medium with two different Mn2+ contents (5 µg L−1, 100 µg L−1) was inoculated with conidiospores from the dmtA deletion strain, the dmtA overexpressing strain or their parent strain, NRRL 2270. Samples were taken 48 h after inoculation and mycelial pellets were visualised by microscopy
