Mass spectroscopy confirmed the production of the following five germicidin congeners: 1, [M + H]⁺ = 197 m/z; 2, [M + H]⁺ = 197 m/z; 3, [M + H]⁺ = 183 m/z; 4 [M + H]⁺ = 183 m/z and 5, [M + H]⁺ = 183 m/z.
