Expression level of CYP11B1 enzyme variants carrying either glycine (G23) or arginine (G23R) in position 23. Recombinant E. coli cultures expressing either wild type or mutant were harvested after the expression period (white bars) or at the end of substrate conversion (grey bars) under the conditions described in Material and methods. P450 concentration was determined by CO-difference spectroscopy with the supernatant of the cell lysate after ultracentrifugation. Values represent the mean of three experiments with the respective standard deviation.
