From: Deletion of the gene encoding the reductase component of 3-ketosteroid 9α-hydroxylase in Rhodococcus equi USA-18 disrupts sterol catabolism, leading to the accumulation of 3-oxo-23,24-bisnorchola-1,4-dien-22-oic acid and 1,4-androstadiene-3,17-dione

Biotransformation of AD into ADD. R. equi USA-18ΔB8 was cultivated in glycerol minimal medium supplemented with 0.5% (w/v) AD and 0.2% (v/v) Tween 20 at 37°C, 200 rpm, for 5 days. The broth was extracted with ethyl acetate and the dissolved compounds were analyzed by TLC. Lane 1 and 2 are AD and ADD standards, respectively. Lane 3 is the ethyl acetate extract.
