Period 1 corresponds to the "growth/production phase" and period 2 to the "production phase". Thick arrows indicate the time points when glucose feeding was carried out in order to adjust glucose concentration in the fermenter up to 100 g L-1, thin arrows correspond to glucose feeding up to a concentration of 50 g L-1.
