Models of mtDNA replication. Three major models are presented (for detailed review, see ref.[66]) with nascent DNA and RNA strands depicted by green and red arrows, respectively. A simplified model for mtDNA, with OriL, OriH and D-loop regions, is shown at the left side of the scheme, together with factors and processes influencing mtDNA replication. Final products of the reactions are shown at the right side of the scheme.
