Teicoplanin A 2 (T-A 2 ) chemical structure and Targocid complex. In A, the chemical structure of teicoplanin core shows that the different components T-A2-1, T-A2-2, T-A2-3, T-A2-4, and T-A 2-5 vary in the acyl chain linked to the glucosamine residue on the heptapeptide scaffold. In B, a pure sample of teicoplanin (Targocid, Sanofi-Aventis) was analyzed by the HPLC method described in the Methods. In these conditions, T-A2-1, T-A2-2, T-A2-3, T-A2-4, and T-A 2-5 represent 6, 58.3, 7.3, 14.4, and 14% of the total T-A2.
