Each structure contains six arrays of 23 cultivation chambers in the oscillation region and one separate array to the right that acted as control for the starvation condition. (d) Feast medium, containing glucose (blue), and starvation medium (red) are introduced via inlets. The left cultivation structure is constantly perfused with feast medium. (e) The flow profile in the oscillation structures can be switched between feast and starvation.
