3-Amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid (3,4-AHBA) production in glucose fed-batch cultures using two metabolically engineered C. glutamicum strains. For the profiling experiment, either parent strain KT01 (a and c) or strain HKC5037 (Δldh mutant) (b and d) was grown under aerobic conditions until the late log phase in brain heart infusion medium, and the culture was then inoculated to an initial OD600 of 0.2 into CGX II medium containing glucose (40 g/L) as the sole carbon sources. Glucose was fed twice as indicated in arrows to increase glucose concentration of 20 g/L. The concentrations of 3,4-AHBA (red circles), glucose (squares), acetate (crosses), lactate (diamonds), succinate (green circles), and cells (triangles) are shown. Data are presented as average ± standard deviation calculated from the results of duplicate individual experiments
