Long-term stability of the generated Synechocystis sYFP2 expression strains in the absence of antibiotic selection pressure. All the novel integration site mutants and the control strains (*) were monitored for sYFP expression in a step-wise suspension batch culture over a six-week period. The different colored bars represent the expression levels (normalized to OD750) measured at one-week intervals, 6 h after re-inoculation into a new batch with fresh BG-11 containing 1 mM IPTG and without antibiotics. The mean and standard deviation have been calculated from three independent replicate cultures (n = 3) for each strain at each timepoint
