Succinate titers in the growth medium of Synechocystis strains created in this study in light and darkness. Cells were grown in pre-cultures, then concentrated and incubated for four days in 20 µE m−2 s−1 light (a) or in darkness (b), before determination of succinate titers. BG11 and BG110 corresponds to media with nitrate or without any nitrogen source, respectively. 5 µM of NiCl2 was added for induction of gene expression. Error bars represent the mean ± SD
