Cell growth and substrate consumption profiles for the two strains constructed in this study. The oxygen variants of fucO (strains LMSE11 and LMSE12) showed a marked difference in growth rate and substrate utilization in shake-flask experiments. Ethylene glycol (EG) consumption is shown by the dashed lines and cell growth, as measured by OD600, is depicted by the solid lines.
