The P. faliciparum K-channels complement the high KCl requirement of a trk1Δ, trk2Δ yeast strain Cells growing exponentially in glucose minimal medium supplemented with 100 mM KCl were harvested by centrifugation, washed four times in 18 mΩ water, re-suspended to OD₄₅₀ = 0.5 in 18 mΩ water and used for inoculation of growth media in microplates containing different concentrations of KCl as indicated in the figure and described in the Methods section. OD₄₅₀ in each well was measured twice a day. All experiments were performed in triplicate. Only a GFP tagged version of PfKch2^fl was included in this study
