When PA levels are high (i.e. low inositol concentration), Opi1 interacts with Scsp2 and is sequestrated in the ER membrane (left) and INO1 and other inositol-sensitive genes are expressed. When the PA levels drops down, Opi1 detaches from Scsp2 and migrates to the nucleus where it represses the expression of inositol-sensitive genes (right)
