Comparative cell growth and P3HB production of engineered E. coli cultivated with yeast extract or corn steep liquor as nitrogen source. E. coli JM109 (pBHR68 + pMCS-pta-ackA) was cultivated in MM medium supplemented with 5 g/L acetate at 37 °C for 48 h. Different concentration (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 g/L) of yeast extract (YE) or corn steep liquor (CSL) was added to the culture as nitrogen source. CDW (a), P3HB content (b), P3HB titer (c), and rCDW (d) were measured. The columns represent the averages of triplicate experiments, and the error bars represent standard deviation
