  1. Cultures were inoculated at an OD600 of 1, α-GG synthesis was induced by addition of NaCl (final concentration 750 mM) after 4 h of cultivation. The fermentations were performed in triplicate, samples of each fermentation were analyzed in triplicate, means are from the three independent experiments; the indicated experimental error means standard deviation
