From: Enhanced ethanol formation by Clostridium thermocellum via pyruvate decarboxylase
The ethanol titer of C. thermocellum with different pyruvate decarboxylase candidates. Four colonies were selected for each candidate pdc gene and evaluated by batch fermentation in MTC-5 medium with 10 g/L cellobiose. Data for each colony is represented by a single point. 10 μg/mL thiamphenicol was added to maintain the plasmid. Strain LL1004 is wild type C. thermocellum.
