Haa1-induced activation of the four selected target genes within the Haa1-regulon that are relevant in the current study and involved in the adaptation to acetic acid stress. Upon exposure of cells to acetic acid, Haa1 binds to the promoter region of its target genes and thereby regulates their expression.
