After each assay, the cells were harvested by centrifugation and resuspended in fresh substrate solution. The obtained activity data from time points within the linear ranges of substrate conversion (7 min for BglA-, 10 min for CelK-, 2 min for CelA-displaying cells) were normalized to the activity of the cells in the first reaction cycle. b Activity of the cells after being preincubated at 55 °C for 24 h
