Effective accumulation of functional recombinant antibodies can be obtained by expressing sulfhydryl oxidase and DsbC isomerase (a) in the cytoplasm before inducing antibody expression in the same cell compartment (b). The two foldases have complimentary activities: the cysteine SH groups are converted into disulfide bonds by sulfhydryl oxidase (c) and, if necessary, these are scrambled by DsbC to achieve the native folding (d)
