The effects of fermentation source and culture conditions on β-carotene production by YJM49. A: The effect of nitrogen sources on β-carotene production. When OD600 reached 0.6-0.9, cultures were induced for 48 h using IPTG in shake-flasks. All the experiments were carried out in triplicates. Optimized conditions: Nitrogen sources, beef power; Carbon source, glycerol; Temperature, 34°C; IPTG concentration, 0.05 mM.
