  1. aThe specific growth rate for each strain was calculated during exponential growth. The cultures were carried out in 96-well microtiter plates, and the optical density at 600 nm was measured every 15 min during 24 h using a SpectraMax M2e microplate reader. All tested C sources were added to M9 minimal medium at 0.2% (w/v). Results represent the mean and SD of three independent experiments.
