Fed-batch cultivations of FUS4/pF81 mutants with putatively increased flux through the PPP. Fed-batch fermentations were conducted in MM with pure glycerol as carbon source. Cell growth (diamonds) and L-Phe concentrations [g l−1] (squares) are shown in the diagrams a-c. The arrows indicate induction with IPTG. Data for carbon yield, space-time-yield and absolute concentration of L-Phe are listed in Table 2. All fermentations were performed two times independently, one typical growth curve is presented.
