  1. Specific PGM activity was measured in extracts of cells grown in defined medium containing galactose (20 g l-1). Specific growth rates (μmax ± standard deviation) were measured under aerobic conditions in defined medium with 50 g l-1 galactose. For comparison, data reprocessed from Bro et al [13] are also reported.
