Scanning electron microscopy of major and minor ampullate and flagelliform silks collected from the garden cross spider Araneus diadematus. Silk harvested from a web was placed on Thermanox plastic cover slips (Nalgene Nunc). Samples were vacuum coated with a gold layer and analyzed with a JSM-5900LV (JEOL Ltd.) at 20 kV.
